A new Report File feature has been added to the File Exchange.
How It Works
When viewing any file in the File Exchange, you will now see a "Report File" button below the download area. Clicking it opens a modal where you can flag a file for one of four reasons:
- Corrupt image / not working -- the file is damaged or does not function as expected
- Mis-categorized -- the file is in the wrong file area or has an incorrect description
- Copyright complaint -- the file may infringe on copyright
- Other -- any other issue (requires a description)
An optional description field is available for all report types (required for "Other"). The system automatically notes whether you have downloaded the file, giving moderators useful context.
What Happens After You Report
- You receive an in-app notification confirming your report was received
- A moderator reviews the report and takes appropriate action
- You receive a follow-up notification when the report is resolved
You may not receive details about the specific action taken, as this is handled confidentially.
For Moderators
File reports appear in a dedicated section at the top of the Moderation Queue. Each report shows the reason, whether the reporter downloaded the file, and links to the file details. Available actions are:
- Dismiss -- no issue found, close the report
- Reject File -- hide the file from public view
- Remove File -- permanently delete the file
Thank you for helping keep the File Exchange clean and useful!
