The site's Community Guidelines lay out both the day-to-day rules and how we handle moderation. Worth reading before you hit anything harder than a Like button.
The one-paragraph summary
Post useful stuff, be decent to the people you're talking to, and remember that the retro community runs on enthusiasm and voluntary labour.
Enforcement ladder
For most issues we escalate in steps: nudge → warning → suspension → shadow-ban → permanent ban. Each step is logged in the audit log.
Some things skip the ladder and go straight to permanent ban: sexual content involving minors, credible threats of violence, malware uploads, doxxing. Those don't get warnings.
Appeals
If you're suspended or banned, the suspended / banned page carries an appeal link. Appeals are reviewed by Sysops (not the mod who issued the action). We read every appeal; reversals aren't guaranteed.
Transparency
- Every mod/admin action is logged in the audit log
- The per-forum mod log is visible to that forum's mod team and the Sysops
- Material changes to the Guidelines are announced here in Important Alerts
Read the full Guidelines for the specifics. It's not long and it's written in plain English.
