File Exchange: Uploading, Downloading, and the Credit System
The File Exchange is our community file library, inspired by classic BBS file sections. Upload useful files, download what you need, and earn credits in the process.
How It Works
Anyone with an account can upload files. Every upload goes into a short quarantine period where it gets reviewed before becoming publicly available. This keeps the library clean and safe.
Credits
6502ish uses a credit system measured in bytes, just like the old BBS days. You earn credits by uploading files and participating in the community. You spend credits to download files. The bigger the file, the more credits it costs.
- Uploading earns credits based on file size
- Downloading costs credits based on file size
- Re-downloads are always free — you only pay once per file
- Your own uploads are free to download
- Super Admins download everything for free
Supported Formats
The File Exchange accepts 50+ retro file formats including disk images (D64, ADF, DSK, ATR), ROMs, SID music files, archives, documents, and more.
Bulk Upload
Admins can use Bulk Upload to add multiple files at once. These bypass the quarantine queue and are immediately available.
