[UPDATE] The welcome quiz now has a second block of checkboxes under the retro-platform picks for cross-platform interests: Programming & Development, Buying/Selling/Trading, General Discussions, Electronics, 3D Printing. Picking any of them auto-subscribes the user to every forum in that category — same mechanic as the platform block.
Details
- Interests are looked up by slug in the controller so IDs can differ across environments without breaking the mapping.
- The submit endpoint now validates against an explicit category-ID allowlist (platforms + interests, min_role_view <= 2) instead of a plain ">= floor" check — a hand-crafted POST can't sneak someone into staff-only spaces.
- Intro copy swapped from "platforms you love" to "what you're into" to match the broader scope.
